MYCELLIUM CITY-
EXPLORING THE FUTURE CITY IMAGE TO IMAGE TRANSLATION
-Training a deep convolutional neural network to translate landscapes using CycleGan Oyster River Cloysters Translated to TerrainOriginal Landscape
This project aims to explore the concept of AI to create a blueprint for a city that is self-sustaining. The idea is to treat the city as an integrated ecosystem that blurs the lines between the constructed and natural landscapes. To achieve this, the project used AI as an input for designing the city.
The inspiration for this project was drawn from man-made cluster lakes that would provide temperature and humidity control, an existing city to give an appropiate scale to the buildings, and a Kandinsky painting for instilling the unknowns of artistic endeavours into the mix. Training a deep convolutional neural network using CycleGan the images were translated and transformed to the orignal landscape of the desert on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The images were then manually composed to achieve a cohesive and coherent 2D master plan.
